The long version

The Riccobene and Reynolds families have been friends since the 1970s. The Treviño family, including Cari, became friends with the loving, lively R & R clan in Austin in the early 1990s, before some of the Riccobenes decamped to suburban Philadelphia.

That's where Ian grew up, and where he met Anna Riccobene. Ian and Anna dated for a couple years in high school, and remained friends afterwards, catching up whenever they could. By chance, Carolina was celebrating Thanksgiving with the Riccobenes in 1995, and Ian and Carolina met for the first time at a hangout at the Riccobene home that year.

In subsequent years, the Reynolds and Riccobene families held an annual reunion weekend, usually around Austin, that allowed Ian and Cari to maintain a casual friendship for over 2 decades. During the 2021 reunion, the advent of remote work meant that Ian could be in Austin for two weeks instead of one weekend. On the first night of that trip, at a Sanco Loop show at the Carousel Lounge, sparks began to fly between old friends, and a love story began.

Before too long, Ian found an apartment in Austin - because, to quote the movie, when you find the person you want to spend the rest of your life with, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible! Ian split time between Austin and San Francisco for about a year before buying a home in Austin. After another year, Cari and her son Thomas joined him and we continue to grow together.

We were engaged on November 25th of 2025 - unintentionally, the same weekend we’d met 30 years prior. Ian proposed at the pond in Mueller Park in Austin, the site of one of our first serious conversations about what it would mean to be together long-term.  Ask Ian about the saxophone player :)

It’s been a ten out of ten since then, and so on 10/10/26, we’ll say our vows and commit to each other for life. We hope you’ll be there!
